BJP seeks all-party meets from village to district level on drought

Hyderabad: Accusing the TRS government of adopting negligent attitude in mitigating problems of farmers and people in drought affected areas, Telangana BJP today demanded holding of all-party meetings from village to district level to discuss the grim drought situation.
The BJP State executive meeting, which met on Sunday opined that the TRS government should convene all-party meetings at village, mandal and district levels to discuss the drought situation as well as steps taken up by it, Telangana BJP president G Kishan Reddy told the media at party office here on Monday.
The party leaders would undertake tours in the drought affected areas across the State to gather information about the prevailing situation and will submit a constructive report to the government on drought relief work, he said.
The party after gathering information from affected farmers and public would submit a report to the Governor also, the BJP chief said. Alleging that the KCR government has miserably failed to launch drought relief works in the affected areas, Kishan Reddy said the drought situation was alarming as lakhs of villagers have been migrated in search of livelihood. Mahbubnagar district was known for migration of labourers, but due to negligent attitude of the State government on drought situation, some 30 lakh people across the State reportedly migrated.
The TRS government was working against the spirit of the Constitution and threatening the Opposition leaders of serious consequences if they did not support ruling party, Kishan Reddy said and alleged that KCR was encouraging defections in the State. (NSS)
