BJP threatens stir on Wakf properties

Ballari: Opposition BJP today threatened to launch an agitation if the Siddaramaiah government failed to table the report on Wakf properties submitted by Karnataka State Minorities Corporation in the ensuing budget legislature session.

The government had promised to table the report and the Action Taken Report, but had not done so, which showed that Wakf properties worth several thousand crores of Rupees had been misused, Opposition BJP leader in the Legislative Council K S Eshwarappa alleged at a press conference here.

He claimed that Congress had not tabled the report apprehending that many bigwigs in the party would get exposed and accused it of betraying the minorities, contrary to its claim of protecting Wakf properties.

Eshwarappa said that the party would be drawing the attention of the Governor in this regard.

He said he hoped that the minority communities would become aware of the Congress’s plan and extend their full support to the BJP, which would be spearheading the issue.

Eshwarappa also said that national leaders will look into the party minority morcha’s complaint against Ananth Kumar Hegde, MP, on his alleged anti-Islam statement.
