BJP, TMC playing fixed political game: Yechury

Kolkata : CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechuri today claimed that the BJP and Trinamool Congress are playing a fixed political game in West Bengal as the two parties have reached a covert understanding at the Centre and in the state.

“After coming to Bengal today, most of the reporters are asking me why (BJP president) Amit Shah was mum on Mamata Banerjee during BJP’s meeting. I feel that both TMC and BJP are playing a political game which has been fixed earlier,” Yechury said at a programme here to mark the 102nd birth anniversary of CPI(M) patriarch Jyoti Basu.

The TMC is helping the BJP to pass ‘anti-people bills’ in Rajya Sabha and, on the other hand, BJP is helping the TMC by virtually stopping the CBI investigation into the Saradha scam, the senior CPI(M) leader said.

“Both BJP and TMC have authoritarian tendencies. The authoritarian tendency of BJP can be seen at the Centre and the authoritarian and undemocratic rule of TMC is being seen in West Bengal for the last four years,” he said.
