BJP Veterans revolt: Cracks emerging post Bihar debacle, says NCP

Mumbai: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Tuesday said that the veterans scathing attack on the BJP top brass over the Bihar debacle was rightly pointed out and added that cracks in the party were finally showing up.

“Although, it is an internal matter for the BJP, they have to set their house right, but the cracks are showing up. It is rightly pointed out by these four senior BJP leaders that their failure in the Bihar elections must be probed by those leaders who had not participated in the campaign,” NCP leader Majeed Memon told ANI.

Memon also said that senior leaders like L. K Advani, Murali Manohar Joshi, Shantha Kumar and Yashwant Sinha contributed heavily in building the party over the last two decades.

“They have made their grievances and their collective voice is an important and significant development,” he added.

Memon also criticised Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for claiming to not understanding the ‘caste arithmetic’ that led to the party’s dismal performance in Bihar.

“Arun Jaitley says that we have lost because of the caste arithmetic, it is something very illogical and I didn’t expect an explanation of this type from a person like him, arithmetic didn’t change overnight,” he added.

In a scathing attack at the BJP’s top brass leadership for the Bihar debacle, party veteran including the likes of L.K. Advani, M.M. Joshi, Shanta Kumar and Yashwant Sinha said that the former failed to learn from the Delhi defeat.

“The results of the Bihar elections show that no lesson has been learnt from the fiasco in Delhi. To say that everyone is responsible for the defeat in Bihar is to ensure that no one is held responsible,” the veterans said in statement.

The BJP top brass, however, issued a counter statement in response to appease their furious party veterans over the Bihar debacle, saying they have been ‘fortunate’ to be led by L.K. Advani for decades and ‘welcomed’ any guidance and suggestion by the senior leaders. (ANI)
