BJP’s Sambit Patra uses fake news to attack NDTV, get tweeter wrath

NEW DELHI: BJP’s National spokesperson Sambit Patra who staunchly believes NDTV of “having an anti-BJP agenda” have grudge against the news channel.

The 42-year old leader made his sentiment clear on Sunday. Patra in an attempt to take a dig at NDTV with ‘fake news’, re-tweeted a story by a Pakistani web portal, named ‘Times Of Islamabad’ slamming PM Mod’s Make in India initiative.

“Make in India turned out to be flop show, reveals data by NDTV’ – adding the re-tweet, ‘Hmmm …Agenda!!’

Soon after Patra’s tweet, NDTV responded and pointed out that the story was a fake and demanded a clarification.

“Fake story, also does not refer anywhere to NDTV. We are wrongly named in headline and URL. Please issue a clarification,” the NDTV commented.

The article that ‘Times of Islamabad’ referred by was actually a column written by former Union minister P Chidambaram for The Indian Express on June 11, 2017 but was credited NDTV instead of IE, according to a report in The Wire.

Times of Islamabad has removed any reference to NDTV and updated its story.

Defending his earlier post, Patra on Monday once again tweeted saying,“Do I not have FOE to call out a Pak publication (real not FAKE) which runs an anti India AGENDA? Why are some riled?”

Twitterattis slammed the controversial BJP spokesperson on social media.

It can be recalled that during a live-debate on cow-slaughter, Razdan had told Patra to leave the show if he did not apologise after he accused the NDTV of spreading misinformation with an agenda.
