Bonalu celebrated in I&PR department


Information and Public Relations department today conducted State-festival “Bonalu” at Masab Tank head office here. Officials and staff of the department participated in the festivities and offered Bonalu on a temple premises. They attended the ritual of special pujas performed on the occasion. The State government is conducting Bonalu festival in three phases and made arrangements for the same. Performances by traditional Potharajulu and a troupe of cultural wing enthralled the officials on the occasion.

Government advisor KV Ramana Chary, I&PR Commissioner, BP Acharya, Director Subhash, AP Information wing chief NV Ramana Reddy, Telangana Press Academy Chairman Allam Narayana, MLA Srinivas Goud, Telangana Monthly Editor A Rammohan and other staff attended the event. The government made arrangements for Bonalu that was conducted in a festive atmosphere at Secunderabad Ujjaini Mahankali Goddess temple for two days and Bonalu at historic fort Golconda. The famous Lal Darwaja Bonalu will be conducted for two days on August 9 and 10. It is likely that the government will offer silk clothes to the goddess on the occasion as it was done at Ujjain Mahankali temple at Secunderabad. (NSS)
