Bonalu reflects TS culture: Swamy Goud

Information department today conducted Bonalu a state festival at head office amid pomp and gaiety. Information wing women staff carried overhead the traditional Bonalu that were decorated in traditional turmeric and vermillion with Neem leaves. They offered obeisance to the goddess even as Pothurajus who shook their legs and hands with hunters were cynosure on the occasion. Those who offered pujas were Council Chairman, Swamy Goud, Press Academy Chairman, Allam Narayana, Information Commissioner Navin Mittal, Mahabubnagar MLA Srinivas Goud, TNGO president K Ravinder were those participated in the event.

Swamy Goud said that the Bonalu festival reflects the age old culture and tradition of Telangana.  The Government is conducting Bonalu as the state festival and many people are participating in the event in a big way he observed. We have to transfer the traditional Bonalu festival to our future generations and keep it alive for decades to come, Swamy Goud stated.

Goud also noted that the Bonalu is the occasion wherein the people offer obeisance to the goddess and seek her blessings for good rains for harvest and reap in benefits to farming community.

Officials of the department present include Joint Directors Nagaiah, G Sujatha, CIE Kishore Babu, Deputy Directors Venkatesham, Bhaskar, Venkateshwar Rao, Engineering officials Rajeshwar Rao, Damodar, Assistant Directors and staff. (NSS)
