Brave cop saves 20 from fire-hit building in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Courage takes strange forms a brave hearted Police constable Bheem Rao rescued 20 people who stuck inside a multi-storied residential building that caught fire near Humayun Nagar on Monday morning.

As soon as Rao, came to know about the incident he immediately rushed to the spot. The fire that began on the first floor had by then reached the second.

“When the fire broke out, residents on higher floors started moving upstairs instead of coming down. I had to run after them to bring them down,” said the real superhero who was on bandobast duty.

“There were also many aged people inside the building that were not that agile. When I heard them scream and shout. I rushed to their flats and started pulling them out. After that I began carrying them downstairs to safety,” he added.

Rao was recently transferred to Humayun Nagar police station from Chatrinaka. K Tarak Rama Ra the urban development minister tweeted urging DGP Anurag Sharma to recognize his brave act KTR said: “Great Job Bheem Rao Garu @TelanganaDGP should recognize his brave act (sic).”

Ayesha Rubina, the area corporator, said: “Fortunately, the constable moved the gas cylinders in the kitchen. By doing so he saved a few more dozen lives of people living in buildings around it.”
