Brothers behead sister, marched with her head across the village

Bareilly: In a gruesome incident, two brothers beheaded their 17-year-old younger sister over affair with cousin and walked around the village with the detached, bleeding head.
The incident happened at Bamani Chowki village in Shahjahanpur district’s Paraur area late Monday.
Gul Hasan, 25, and his brother Nanhey, 20, dragged their sister Phool Jahan out from her lover’s house that was their cousin in full public view on Monday afternoon.

Reports say, the brothers after beheading kept shouting: “Dekho, hamne apni behen ko maar dala aur pyar karney ki yehi sazaa hoti hai” (This is what happens as punishment for having an affair.)

Jahan had earlier expressed her wish to marry him. But her brothers had objected to their idea of marriage and warned her to stay away from their cousin.

However, the girl’s other relatives were ready for the marriage, claimed Paraur Station Officer Rajesh Singh who confirmed the girl’s affair with her cousin.

“She had an altercation with her two brothers on Sunday evening, as they asked her to end the relationship. The girl refused and was beaten up. She then left home and went to her lover’s house,” Singh said. He added the two accused tried to bring the girl home but she refused. Following this, the duo went to the cousin’s house late Monday and dragged the girl out. “She was beaten up… While the locals did not intervene, the brothers hacked her with knives in full public view. The two then started walking towards their house with the girl’s head and told people that they were going to the police station. But they did not,” said the Station Officer.

According to reports, Phool Jehan was the only sister to eight brothers, six of whom are said to be in Delhi.
