BSP says Punjab Govt. a meek spectator to Dalit atrocities

New Delhi, Dec.14 : Condemning the brutal murder of Dalit in Punjab’s Abohar constituency, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on Monday said the state government is guilty of being a meek spectator to atrocities conducted on the backward community.

“Ever since the BJP-Akali Dal coalition government has been formed in Punjab, atrocities on Dalits have increased. There is no law and order in the state and it seems that there is rule of drug dealers,” BSP Supremo Mayawati told media.

“The Punjab Government is just being a meek spectator and is not taking any action against the atrocities conducted towards the dalits,” she added.

She also said that then recent Abohar incident shows that there is conspiracy going on in Punjab.

“We demand the Centre to take cognizance of the incident and action should be taken against the guilty. The victims should be given justice. Unless and until the Centre interferes in this issue, nothing is going to take place in Punjab,” she said.

One person was brutally murdered, while another critically injured at the farm house of liquor contractor and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) supporter Shiv Lal Doda alias Sholly in Fazilka’s Abohar constituency on Friday afternoon. (ANI)
