Hyderabad: The by-election to Palair assembly seat in Telangana will be held on May 16, the Election Commission said on Tuesday.
The assembly seat in Khammam district fell vacant following the death of sitting legislator Ramreddy Venkatreddy of main opposition Congress last month.
The notification for the by-election will be issued on April 22. According to a statement from the office of chief electoral officer of Telanana, the nominations can be filed till April 29. The scrutiny of nominations will be taken up the next day. May 2 will be the last date for withdrawal of candidature.
Counting of votes will be taken up on May 19.
