Cabinet meet on June 17 to discuss Land Scam Row

Hyderabad: The State Cabinet meeting will be conducted at Pragathi Bhavan on June 17 at 5 pm. According to a press release, the cabinet will meet at the camp office of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao who is to chair the crucial meeting.
The Cabinet is likely to focus on the land scam cases including Miyapur land case that ran into crores of rupees and attracting wrath from opposition parties. It assumes significance in the wake of Miyapur land scam that drew flak from opposition parties seeking CBI inquiry and the leaders who are on warpath against the government. While the Congress leaders made a visit to Miyapur lands on Wednesday, the Telugu Desam Party leaders complained to Governor ESL Narasimhan and sought CBI inquiry into the matter. According to Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, the government is to come up with a new land policy by making an amendment to the existing land Act to check irregularities and punish the guilty.
Besides talking about the key programs and schemes KCR is serious on the Miyapur land scam that was disclosed by the government itself and planning to come up with an amendment to the existing land Act to check the irregularities forthwith.
Other issues to be discussed prominently include Sheep-Rearing scheme to be implemented soon and status of irrigation projects and implementation of several schemes including that of central sponsored ones, roads development into national highways, repair of roads and sewage lines in the city which are not monsoon ready and others like Bonalu, Ramzan festival.
The Congress, going a step ahead, has accused that the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and his family members were involved in the land scam, and demanded a CBI probe to unravel the truth. The Cabinet is expected to discuss the ongoing irrigation projects, Mission Bhagiratha, Mission Kakatiya, welfare schemes and development works.(NSS)
