Cabinet meets ahead Budget session; CM confers with Guv

Hyderabad: Close on the heels of Telangana Budget session beginning from March 10, the State Cabinet met at Secretariat here on Sunday.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who chaired the Cabinet meeting, had earlier called on Governor ESL Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan and closeted with him for about an hour. The Governor will address a joint session on the first day of the budget session at 11 am and Narasimhan will present Government’s priorities for various sectors and plan of development of the State. KCR is learnt to have discussed on the Budget session that is to be conducted for 18 days, while the budget presentation is likely on March 14.

The Cabinet is to take key decisions on a few new bills to be introduced include Foreign Universities and Women University, approve design change of important projects like Kaleshwaram, Pranahita-Chevella and Tupakulagudem. It is likely that the Cabinet is to push irrigation taken up by previous government and funds spent, amount given to contractors, works yet to be completed and necessary funding for speedy completion of the same.

It is said the Cabinet is to give nod for setting up a Rs 100 crore worth corporation for Brahmins’ welfare in the State. The Cabinet may give approvals for amendment of Election Notification Act amendment issued by municipal administration department, amendment for Building and Land Regularization Acts, allocation of 50 acres for TSIIC. It is likely that the Cabinet may give a nod for new appointments in agriculture, revenue and other departments. (NSS)
