Cancel Rs. 2,000 currency notes: APCC Chief

Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Dr. N. Raghuveera Reddy on Sunday demanded that the Central Government cancel the newly introduced Rs. 2,000 currency notes.

Raghuveera Reddy, along with hundreds of Congress workers, staged dharna at State Bank of India (SBI) Ananthapur branch. Speaking on the occasion, he said the introduction of Rs. 2,000 notes after demonitising Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 500 notes was a puzzle. He said that the demonitisation move has created chaos and unrest in the entire country and common people were badly hit. In this situation, he said what the common man would do with a Rs. 2,000 note.

The APCC chief said if Prime Minister Narendra Modi could accept Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s request to demonitise Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 500 notes, then why was he not responding to the demand for Special Status for Andhra Pradesh. (INN)
