Categorise SCs in TS: Srihari urges Venkaiah

New Delhi: Extending thanks for approving uniform service rules for Teachers, Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari today urged the Centre to take a call on Scheduled Castes categorisation at the earliest.
Accompanied by TRS MPs B Vinod Kumar, Telangana representative in Delhi S Venugopala Chary, Chief Whip Palla Rajeshwar Reddy and others, Srihari on Tuesday called on Union Information & Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu in Delhi and put forth the impending demand for SC categorisation. “Initially, we have extended thanks to the Union minister for his initiative to resolve the long-pending problem of uniform service rules of Teachers since 1998”, Srihari said discussed various issues pertaining to education and other key issues of Telangana.
Mainly Srihari is said to have urged Venkaiah Naidu to see that Telangana appeals on GST regime be accepted by the Centre. Besides touching upon about the perennial cashless problem in Banks and ATMs Srihari asked the former to see that the new state get adequate funds to cater to the needs of people who are withering for money. He sought exemption of GST on drinking water scheme, irrigation projects which are meant for public use and clothes and handloom business that have closed down their shops for three days in protest against the GST. The deputy chief minister is said to have asked the union minister to release the pending funds to the state under various heads. He reportedly sought Venkaiah’s cooperation for speedy completion of the irrigation project by giving timely permissions avoiding delay.
Later Srihari told media persons that he extended thanks to Venkaiah as the Centre gave its nod for uniform service rules. Indeed, the state government is thankful for resolving the Teachers service rules row followed by a Supreme Court directive. He recalled that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has appealed to the Centre time and again to clear the file related to Teachers woes. With the central nod on the service rules it is now clear that we can take steps for offering promotions and improve standards of education and teaching methods. KCR directed us to form a committee that will look into legal issues in this regard he said.
Srihari also said that he brought to the notice of Venkaiah Naidu about the Telangana Assembly passing a resolution in favour of SC categorization and sending to the Centre for approval besides KCR handing over the copies of the same to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. What we have appealed to the Centre is that SC categorization permission should be confined to Telangana state only. In the wake of all political parties are giving support the categorization of SCs is not a problem and the Centre is expected to give its nod Srihari hoped. (NSS)
