CBI registers a case against Railway inspector in bribery case

Nagpur [India]: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday arrested an inspector and a constable, both working in Railway Protection Force ( RPF) at Nagbhid Railway Station in Maharashtra in connection with a bribery case.

Under section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA) 1988 and Section 120-B of Indian Penal Code(IPC) on the allegations of demanding illegal gratification of Rs.8,000 from the complainant for releasing his seized articles.

It was also alleged that the accused persons had earlier taken Rs.2500 as bribe from the accused and demanded the balance amount of Rs.5500 for releasing the seized materials.

The CBI had laid a trap and caught the accused red handed while demanding and accepting the bribe of Rs.5500 from the complainant.

Searches were conducted at the residence of both the accused which led to recovery of incriminating documents.

The arrested accused were produced today before the Special Judge, Chandrapur and remanded to police custody till January 9. (ANI)
