Ceasefire violations by India threat to regional peace: Sharif

Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today said alleged ceasefire violations by India along the Line of Control (LoC) was not only an aggression against Kashmiris but also a serious threat to regional peace and security.

“The violations (by India) have increased and spread from LoC to the Working Boundary. I think they are serious threat to the peace of the region,” he said while inaugurating a newly constructed sports stadium at Bagh in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

He said that “unprovoked Indian firing” was not only an aggression against Kashmiris but also amounts to targeting the conscience of the world community.

Sharif said that Pakistan was continuously keeping the international community abreast of these provocations.

“We will continue to highlight the issue of Kashmir until it is resolved according to wishes of people of Kashmir,” he said.

He said that Pakistan has already taken measures to draw attention of the UN and the international community towards the plight of Kashmiri people.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan was playing a key role in the global war against terrorism and its efforts have been recognised by the world.
