Centre agrees to enhance scholarship amount for minority students

Hyderabad: Union Minister for Minority Affairs, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has agreed to the enhance scholarship amount for minority students as proposed by Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana, Mohammed Mahmood Ali. He assured to take the decision after consulting ministry officials in this connection. Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi admitted that the central government’s pre & post matric scholarship is insufficient and needs enhancement.

Advisory Committee meeting of Minority Affairs Ministry was held in Chennai on Friday which was attended by ministers of minority affairs of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Lakshadweep. Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali and secretary Minority Welfare Syed Omer Jaleel represented Telangana state.

Addressing the meeting Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana, Mohammed Mahmood Ali proposed to enhance pre & post matric scholarship upto 6000 and 12000 respectively as the present amount is insufficient.
