Hyderabad: Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya on Friday said the Centre will soon issue social security smart cards to 40 crore workers in the unorganized sector.
Speaking on the sidelines of a programme after launching Facebook and Twitter accounts of Employment Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) here, the Union Minister said the government was aiming to bring all workers in the unorganized sector under social security net.
He said the Labour Ministry will soon provide the workers with a Unorganised Worker Identification Number) card – U WIN number under smart cards.
Dattatreya said welfare schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jan Suraksha Yojana, Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Atal Pension Yojana would be converged into these smart cards to enable beneficiaries to avail benefits without hassles.
He further said the smart cards would have portability and function anywhere for migrant workers. (ANI)
