Chandrababu commissions Godavari-Krishna interlinking project

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today commissioned Godavari and Krishna river interlinking at a Ferry point near Ibrahimpatnam in Krishna district, which would provide water to agriculture in drought-prone Rayalaseema region.

The Chief Minister unveiled a pylon commissioning the merger of Godavari water into Krishna which would facilitate to irrigate lands in Rayalaseema through Pattiseema project. It was a dream of the AP Chief Minister to commission the project. The program was attended by AP Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao, ministers Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, Devineni Uma Maheshwar Rao, Achennaidu, Kamineni Srinivas, Kollu Ravindra, MPs Keshineni Nani, Konkalla Narayana and party MLAs.

Expressing happiness over commissioning of interlinking of Godavari and Krishna rivers, Union minister M Venkaiah Naidu said it was an auspicious day and with the commissioning of Pattiseema Ganga-Cauvery interlinking works should also begin soon. He said the Congress was opposing development of the country. Curiously, the Congress was opposing Land Acquisition Bill, which was tailored during previous UPA regime, he alleged.

Union minister and TDP leader Sujana Choudhary said it was a festival day for Andhra Pradesh and the TDP. Interlinking of Godavari and Krishna rivers would be written in golden letters in the history of the State. The people will remember forever the works being done by Chandrababu Naidu, he said. Sujana also said NITI Ayog was considering the issue of special status to AP. (NSS)
