Chandrababu too launches DBR houses scheme

Perhaps, attracted by the double bedroom scheme launched by his Telangana counterpart K Chandrasekhar Rao, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today announced double bedroom housing scheme in his State christened as “NTR Housing scheme”.

Chandrababu Naidu launched the housing scheme on the occasion of 125th Jayanthi of Babasaheb B R Ambedkar at Jakkampudi in Krishna district. The Chief Minister laid foundation stone for construction of 10,000 houses under the scheme for poor people.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Chandrababu Naidu said the houses constructed during Congress rule were sub-standard and were not fit for living and Congress leaders indulged in irregularities and corruption in the name of houses. He said while Rs 42,000 crore has been sanctioned for the housing scheme during ten year rule of the Congress, they spent only Rs 12,000 crore for constructing the houses. Naidu lauded the services of Dr Ambedkar, who fought for removal of economic disparities.

Stating that It was late NTR, who had initiated efforts for construction of houses for poor, the Chief Minister said his government has decided to construct six lakh houses for poor in the State for which Rs 16,000 crore was needed.

Ministers Mrinalini, Devineni Umamaheshwar Rao, Kollu Ravindra, Kesineni Nani, MLA Bonda Uma and others attended the function. (NSS)
