Changes in Muslim society inevitable: Zahid Ali Khan’s speech in Du-ba-Du program

Hyderabad: Addressing a gathering held for Du-ba-Du (Face-to-Face) Matrimonial Alliances Program organized by MDF of Siasat Urdu Daily, Mr. Zahid Ali Khan told that the results of UP elections are a major challenge for Muslims. If Muslims want to lead a dignified life in this country, they should concentrate on getting higher education for their children. In the present situation of the country, positive changes are inevitable for Muslim society. The nations which do not adjust themselves with the changing situations would remain backward.

Mr. Zahid Ali Khan presided over the function which was held at Ryan Function Palace, Ring Road, Mehdipatnam. He pointed out that due to extravagant expenses in marriages, the economy of Muslim society is getting weaker. An estimate shows that Muslims spend more than Rs. 4000 crore every year on marriages. He mentioned that the Hindus celebrate their marriage function at their houses and the Christians manage their weddings in Churches. In the same manner, there seems to be no extravagant expenses in the marriages of Sikhs. It is very regrettable that by making extravagant expenditure in weddings, Muslims violate the Islamic teachings. Muslims do not have any planning. Dowry system is ruining our society. If the parents of the girls spend more money on the marriage of their first daughter, how will they pool up money for the marriages of other daughters? He advised the Muslim parents to make marriages simpler and give preference to character and not beauty and money of the girls since beauty and money are temporary and the character is permanent. The purpose of organizing Du-ba-Du programs is to persuade Muslim parents to celebrate the marriages of their children in a simple manner.

Mr. Abid Siddiqui, President of MDF in his welcome speech regretted that Muslim parents are adopting un-Islamic traditions in marriages. There is a difference in their sayings and actions. He appealed to the parents to select the girls who have good character. Present on this occasion were Mr. M.A. Qadeer, Organizing President, Mr. Mohammed Tajuddin, Dr. Syed Nazim Ali, Dr. Shaik Siyadath Ali and others.

Mr. Zaheeruddin Ali Khan, Managing Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily supervised the arrangements. This program was meant exclusively for Engineering graduates.
