Chennai student wins Ford’s Leadership in Engineering Scholarship

Chennai: Ancy Philip, an engineering student from the Department of Computer Science at the Chennai-based Anna University, has become the first Indian recipient of the Alan Mulally Leadership in Engineering Scholarship.

The USD 10,000 scholarship is part of the company’s global initiative to honor the outstanding service of Alan Mulally, the company’s former CEO.

Being the first India recipient of this coveted scholarship, Ancy Philip received the award from Nigel Harris, President and Managing Director, Ford India and Dave Dubensky.

Ford Fund will manage the program as part of its global Ford Blue Oval Scholars initiative. Scholarship winners will be connected with the company’s corporate science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) strategic initiative, which is building a new generation of leaders in these key disciplines.

Ford Motor Company recently confirmed new investment dedicated towards future capacity expansion at the Ford Chennai Plant and the establishment of a new global engineering and technology center.

Anna University is a technical university in Tamil Nadu, India. The main university campus in located in Guindy, Chennai. It was named after former C N Annadurai, former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on 4 September 1978.
