Chhattisgarh: Naxals kill villager on suspicion of being ‘police informer’

Kondagaon : A villager was allegedly killed by Naxals today on suspicion of being a police informer in Chhattisgarh’s Kondagaon district.

A case has been registered in this connection.

Meanwhile, in a joint operation launched by the Jharkhand police and 158 Battalion Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), a massive cache of arms and ammunitions was recovered from a Naxal hideout in Jharkhand’s Lohardaga district.

A 7.62 mm Light Machine Gun (LMG), semi automatic US made rifle, an AK 47, a Self-Loading Rifle (SLR) rifle, three Insas rifle, two 303 rifle, four 315 rifle, communication sets, along with magazines and around more than 3000 ammunitions of different calibers were among the weapons and ammunition that were recovered.

Last month, as many as 25 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed and five others were injured in the encounter with Naxals in Sukma on April 24.

The CRPF’s 74th Battalion was ambushed by the naxals when it was manning a road construction project. (ANI)
