Children sent back from Anganwadi due to water crisis in Latur

Latur (Maharashtra): The underprivileged children of Anganwadi are facing a lot of problems in drought-hit Maharashtra’s Latur district.

Unable to quench the thirst of children, the teachers of the institution are now sending the kids back to their homes.

According to one of the teachers, the water crisis looming over the village has hit the functioning of Anganwadi.

“Due to scarcity of water, we are unable to cook proper food and provide adequate amount of water to the children. We are left with no choice, but to send them back,” he said.

The teacher said the tanker carrying water does not reach the village at a specific time, adding it becomes extremely difficult for them as they have to pre schedule everything for the kids.

Authorities in Latur have imposed Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code in areas around 20 water storage tanks until May 31 to avoid any possible violence over water. (ANI)
