Chopped-up body of youth found in south Delhi forest

New Delhi: A decomposed and chopped up body of a man in his twenties was found today in Jahanpanah city forest of south Delhi.

The body was cut into three pieces and thrown in different parts of the forest, police said.

A senior police official said the body was discovered by some children who had entered the forest to collect peacock feathers and they had informed the security guards who later called the police.

Police said as the body was highly decomposed it was not possible to identify the victim and thus, they have sent it to AIIMS.

The official also said it appeared that the victim had been murdered elsewhere and the body dumped in the forest.

The assailants might have carried the body in a bag and dumped it at night, police said and added that the head and lower part of the body was found in a bush.

It also said that CCTV footage of the park was being scanned to identify the assailants and the details of the body have been shared on Zonal Integrated Police Network (ZIPNET).

Senior police officials said a case of murder will be registered.

Residents of the area said the spot where the body was discovered is close to a gate that opens towards Batra Hospital in Dakshinpuri.

Although the gate remains closed at night, it is not difficult to scale it, residents said.
