Citizens asked to observe every Friday as Dry Day to banish mosquitoes

GHMC Commissioner Dr B. Janardhan Reddy has appealed to the citizens and households to observe every Friday as Dry Day to control mosquito breeding as one mosquito produces 700 crore mosquitoes in a year.

The GHMC Commissioner held a review meeting with Entomology, Veterinary, Births & Deaths wings along with Additional Commissioner (H&S) and senior officials of all the wings at GHMC Head Office today.

Interacting with the officials, the Commissioner said there was every need to create awareness  about ill-effects of mosquito breeding through various means of communication channels like cinema slides, short video films stickers, hoardings and so on. The Commissioner directed the Additional Commissioner to launch awareness and publicity campaign. “Maa Inti Nestham” program, which was launched must be further strengthened duly coordinating with government and private hospitals to know the actual pet dogs vaccinated so far so as to enable the citizens to come forward for adoption of puppies under this program.

The Commissioner also asked the Veterinary wing officials to put all the information regarding to pet dogs registration on the website duly furnishing the concept details and phone numbers in My GHMC app to create awareness to derive good results. The Commissioner also enquired about the sanctioned works pertaining to various wings of Health and Sanitation and directed to expedite the works on priority. He said the officials of Veterinary wing must ensure that 100% stamp meat to be procured by all the hotels and eating establishments with the help of police and connected departments inspections, raid etc., be conducted regularly for imposing penalties as per the provisions of the act.

The Commissioner discussed various issues such as status of issuance of birth certificates through citizen service centres, Mee Seva etc., Anti Larval Operations status and issues of slaughter houses installation of CC TV cameras in animal care centres, slaughter houses daily feedback reports on the analysis. He enquired about Anti-larval operations where the Chief Entomologist briefed the Commissioner about fogging operations and 2370 Entomology workers covering one lakh houses everyday for Urban Malaria Scheme covering entire households in a month. The Commissioner directed the Entomology wing to involve all the Corporators and Public Representatives while they are taking up Anti larva and fogging operations in the jurisdictions. (NSS)
