All the municipalities will be turned into plastic-free zones by next January 1 and it was decided to set up a new Urban Development Authority including 24 towns in the state.
This was stated by Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao at a review meeting of Sangareddy and Sadasivapet municipalities. Stating LRS date extended till Dec 31, he said that the officials are not working upto the mark. Regularisation of the houses should be done in a fast manner and those who failed will get serious action he warned. KTR expressed displeasure at the two municipalities for failing to perform. Action will be initiated from Jan 1 if they failed to perform. The government gave Rs 5 cr each to these two civic bodies and will give more if they utilize them for development, he said. KTR directed the officials to take stern action on those who are resorting to advertisements through flexes. (NSS)
