CLC demands judicial probe into kidnap of OU student Mahesh

Civil Liberties Committee (CLC) today demanded a judicial inquiry into the alleged kidnap of Mahesh, a student of Osmania University and State President of Telangana Vidyarthi Vedika on September 30 by the Police, and also booking a case against the police involved in the incident.

Addressing the media at NSS here, Prof G Laxman, Vice-President, V Raghunath, Assistant Secretary of CLC and others, said the Government should ensure a peaceful life in the OU campus.They said that Mahesh was kidnapped by the special task police force. He was taken in a Tata sumo car. They took him around the city for nearly four hours. He was mentally and physically tortured by the special task police force. They abused him as well and threatened him to stop working in (TVV) or taking any part in its activity, they alleged.

They also demanded the immediate suspension of the S I Ashok Reddy and stopping the arrest of students following minor incidents. They demanded that Police should not enter the campus without the permission of the Vice-Chancellor. (NSS)
