CM Directs Officials to increase tax revenue

Reviewing the performance of the two revenue generating departments, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Friday stressed the need to increase the tax revenue.

During a high-level review meeting at the Secretariat here, the Chief Minister asked the Minister and the officials to take steps to increase tax collection and strengthen the wing.

He directed Minister for Commercial Taxes Talasani Srinivas Yadav and the officials to chalk out a comprehensive excise policy and to strengthen vigil at border checkposts here Friday.

He said the official machinery should encourage the tax payers to come forward voluntarily to pay the tax. KCR felt that the best methods should be adopted by the Department to help the government secure more revenue. He instructed the officials to strengthen the 14 checkposts on Telangana state borders with adjoining four other states.

KCR said the State government would initiate steps to strengthen the Commercial Taxes department. “We need to take revolutionary measures to increase the revenues through Commercial Taxes,” Rao opined.

The state government is also planning to make pure toddy available to the people by planting five crore date palm trees on the banks of irrigation tanks in the state.

The Excise department will raise the nurseries of date palm trees. For this, the State government will depute two divisional forest officers (DFOs) to the Excise department.
