Hyderabad: The Telangana government has ordered an inquiry by the state police’s CID into the alleged illegal transfer of 796 acres of government land to private individuals in Medchal district and transferred 29 sub-registrars of the concerned department.
The keenness on part of chief minister to protect government land is praise worthy however if he shows same kind of interest in protection of Waqf lands and properties, properties worth several thousand of rupees could be saved.
There are 35000 Waqf properties in Telangana out of which 90 pc are illegally occupied. Though government has announced protection of Waqf properties and to spend the earnings on welfare of Muslims but no concrete measures have been taken.
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had assured that the government would handover the unallotted vacant land at Manikonda to the Waqf Board. But nothing has been done in this regard so far.
