CM releases Rs 75 lakh for Mutharam Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy temple

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has sanctioned and released Rs 75 lakh from out of Special Development Fund for taking up development works at Sri Sitarama Chandra Swamy Devasthanam in Mutharam village, Mudigonda Mandal under Madhira Constituency in Khammam district.

The amount has been released from State Plan’s Scheme of “Special Development Fund for the welfare of developmental activities.” The District Collector, Khammam has been asked to incur the expenditure for the amount sanctioned through the Endowments Department as per rules.

 

It may be mentioned here that the Chief Minister visited the temple during his Khammam tour on February 16, 2016 and in response to the request from the villagers, he had agreed to consider release of funds for the development of temple. Consequent to the proposals received from the Revenue Department in this regard, the CM has sanctioned the amount.

 

Number of devotees visiting the Sri Sita Rama Chandra Swamy temple has been on the increase several fold on a daily basis.  Besides Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy Kalyanam and Sri Ram Navami. Several programs and ceremonies are being performed here at the temple throughout the year.  The place is not convenient for organizing the programs. The villagers wanted the main entrance to the sanctum sanctorum to be widened, construction of a Yagashala, Kalyana Mandapam, Kitchen, toilets, Store Room, Water Tank, Borewell and the laying floor for Pradhakshina.  The need to develop this temple has been brought to the notice of the CM by villagers during the visit of the CM.

 

Sri Sita Rama Chandra Swamy temple in Mutharam village is an ancient temple dating back to 400 years.  Deities of this temple resemble that of Sri Sita Rama Chandra Swamy temple in Bhadrachalam in Bhadradi Kothagudem district.  Every year Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy Kalyanam is performed in Muthram temple in the evening to enable the Talambralu of Sri Sita Rama Chandra Swamy Kalyanam that takes place in the morning in Bhadrachalam to rreach the Mutharam temple.  The ancient temple was in a dilapidated condition was renovated and the funds released now will be utilized for further development.
