CM reviews water supply for Kharif

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today asked the officials to prepare proposals to release waters for ayacut under SRSP and Srisailam dam.

At a high-level review meeting at camp office along with Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao and officials, the Chief Minister discussed on the ample use of waters as water level at SRSP is put at 47.5 tmc with inflows of 8000 cusecs. KCR asked the minister and officials to prepare plans in two days to distribute water for crops for Kharif season by ensuring minimum storage and cater to future needs. The Chief Minister also directed that the pleas of farmers from Nalgonda and Warangal districts be considered to fill the lakes and water bodies with 2.5 tmc to 3 tmc. The government will release orders on preparing the proposals for release of waters to ayacut and lakes.

Adequate water for Pushkaralu

The Chief Minister also asked the officials concerned to release adequate waters to pushkar ghats in Nalgonda and Mahabunagar districts for the 12-day long Kirshna pushkaralu commencing from August 12. Reviewing the works completed so far and nearing completion at the districts for the holy pushkaralu, the Chief Minister directed the district Collectors to provide facilities to the devotees coming from various places. As water level at Srisailam is pegged at 112 tmc with 15000 cusecs to 16000 cusecs inflows in to the dam, the district officials should release adequate quantity of waters to pushkar ghats on time. He also asked Harish Rao to discuss the issue with the Collectors and take steps for the purpose. (NSS)
