CM’s representation to start Saudi Consulate in Hyderabad and enhancement of Hajj quota

Hyderabad: It has been decided to make a representation at CM’s level for the establishment of Saudi Consulate in Hyderabad and also for the enhancement of Hajj quota for the Hajj season 2017. It is expected that Mr. KCR will write to PM Modi soon in this regard. If need be, a delegation of TRS MPs led by Dy. C.M. Mr. Mahmood Ali will meet PM Mr. Modi to hand over KCR’s letter.

The attempts for the establishment of Saudi Consulate in Hyderabad started when Mr. Mahmood Ali met Saudi Ambassador for India and apprised him of the need for it. However, approval of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Govt. of India is needed. It is understood that Govt. of Saudi Arabia has, in principle, decided to start its consulate in Hyderabad. CMO has sought the file from the Dept. of Minorities Welfare so that a letter could be written to PM. It is also understood that CM would write a letter to PM for the allotment of 2000 seats for Telangana for the Hajj season of 2017.

This year, Govt. of Saudi Arabia has enhanced 20% quota for India. In this manner, Telangana may get 800-1000 seats. Since Telangana has more concentration of Muslims, it has been decided to make a request for the allotment of 2000 more seats. Minority Affairs Minister, Mr. Muqtar Abbas Naqvi has assured that he would consider the request of Telangana sympathetically.

It may be noted that from this year onward the arrangements for Hajj pilgrimage have been shifted to Ministry of Minority Affairs from Ministry of External Affairs.

Mr. Mohammed Mahmood Ali told that he would very soon visit New Delhi along with officials for making a representation for the establishment of Saudi Consulate in Hyderabad and also for the enhancement of Hajj quota for Telangana State. He further told that Mr. KCR is very serious in both these matters. He wants that Saudi Consulate should be established in Hyderabad soon so that Hajj and Umra pilgrims could get facilities. He also told that CM has issued special instructions for making arrangements for Hajj pilgrims. The budget of Hajj Committee has also been enhanced. Mr. KCR is rated as the only Minority friendly CM in the entire country. He not only believes in making announcements but also in implementing them.

Recently, he had made certain promises on the floor of the Assembly. Within two days’ time, orders were issued for their implementation. Rs. 28.48 crore have been sanctioned for renovation of Makkah masjid. In the same manner, a decision has been taken for starting an Islamic center in Hyderabad and the construction of multi-storey commercial complex for Anees-ul-Ghuraba orphanage at Nampally. He hoped that these amounts would be released soon. A decision has been taken to release Rs. 20 crore as the first installment to Chief Engineer R&B for the establishment of Islamic Center and also for the construction of Anees-ul-Ghuraba commercial complex.

Mr. Mahmood Ali told that Islamic Center of Hyderabad would be a unique architectural monument of India in which facilities for Islam and integration of other religions would be provided. In addition to it, it will also have the modern convention center.
