Srinagar: The Congress Party on Friday congratulated People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti, who is set to take oath as the first woman Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, and expressed hope that she would work for providing relief to flood-affected people.
“Obviously she will take oath. We are not opposed to it. We wish her luck and hope that does work for the betterment of the state. We hope that those affected by floods are given relief,” Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad told ANI.
The PDP is unanimous in its choice of Mehbooba, while its coalition partner the BJP also said it would go with the PDP’s choice on Chief Ministerial post.
BJP National General Secretary Ram Madhav is in Srinagar to meet State’s party leadership for smooth transition of power. (ANI)
