Congress to declare candidates on Jan 15: Digvijay Singh

AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh on Wednesday announced that the Congress party would announce the list of candidates for GHMC elections on January 15.

Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan here, Digvijay Singh said that the process for selection of candidates was on and they would be finalised by January 15. Further, he said that the party’s manifesto for GHMC would be released on January 18. He alleged that the ruling TRS party was trying to lure the Congress leaders and workers to win GHMC elections. However, he said that the TRS would not succeed in its plans.

Digvijay Singh said that the TRS Government has failed on all fronts and not a single promise made with the people during 2014 elections has been fulfilled. He said that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has failed to provide 12% Muslim reservation and also disappointed the community on other promises. He alleged that KCR has cheated by promising to merge TRS with the Congress party before 2014 elections.

The AICC leader also condemned Prime Minister Narendra Modi for attending the marriage of granddaughter of Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Shareef. He said the most wanted criminal Dawood Ibrahim was one of the guests in the same function. He said that the Congress party has specific information about Dawood Ibrahim’s participation in the marriage. (INN)
