Congress demands all party meeting over voters’ list

The Telangana Congress leaders on Thursday demanded that the State Election Commission convene an all party meeting to discuss the revision of electoral rolls in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) areas.

Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan here, former minister Marri Sashidhar Reddy, MLC M.S.Prabhakar and former mayor Banda Karthika Chandra Reddy alleged that Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwarlal of working like TRS agent. They said that the CEO did not respond to the complaints lodged by the Congress party alleging that nearly 42% names have been removed from the electoral rolls of nearly 41 lakh voters in the GHMC limits. Nearly 54% voters have been deleted from the Sanathnagar constituency. They claimed that the voters, whose named have been removed, were mostly settlers and minorities.

Sashidhar Reddy said that the voters’ names were removed without citing any reasons. He informed that a fresh representation has been given to State Election Commissioner Nagi Reddy demanding a probe into the matter and he has been requested to convene an all-party meeting.(INN)
