Congress inventing new ways to disrupt Parliament: Naidu

New Delhi: With the winter session of Parliament heading towards another washout after repeated disruption over several issues by the opposition parties, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs M. Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday said the opposition was “inventing and manufacturing issues to stall the proceedings” of the House.
“They are trying to invent and manufacture some issue or the other, to stall the functioning of Parliament. They are doing immense harm to the country and also to themselves,” Naidu told the media here.

“We should not become laughing stock in front of people by taking up such issues and stall Parliament over them,” he added.

When asked to respond to the opposition’s demand of resignation of Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Naidu said they should study, make observations and then take position.

Naidu further criticised the Congress Party for not discussing the issues in Parliament through a proper channel.

“Why they are not discussing the issues in Parliament. They should have discussed the issue of Governor of Arunachal through a proper motion but they know they don’t want to discuss it, because it will boomerang them,” Naidu said.

The Congress Party today targeted Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and demanded his resignation over alleged gross financial irregularities in Delhi’s cricket body DDCA when he headed it from 1999 to 2013.

The development comes after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said yesterday that he proposed to order a Commission of Inquiry into the report of the committee set up by his government to go into the DDCA affairs. (ANI)
