Congress leaders meet CEC over EVM tampering

The Telangana Congress leaders on Monday demanded that the Election Commission of India order a probe into the allegations of tampering of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) during the GHMC elections.

A Congress delegation, comprising of TPCC Chief Spokesperson M. Shravan Kumar, ex-minister Bhikshamaiah Goud and others, met Chief Election Commission Naseem Zaidi in New Delhi on Monday. They alleged that the ruling TRS tampered with EVMs to turn the GHMC results in their favour. While seeking a probe into the EVMs tampering, they demanded that ballot papers or EMVs quipped with printers be used in Narayankhed Assembly by-elections.

Speaking to media persons later, Shravan Kumar said suspicions were raised after TRS swept Warangal Lok Sabha by-elections. He said those suspicions proved right during GHMC elections. He asked as to how Panchayat Raj Minister K. Tarakarama Rao predicted 100 seats for TRS. He said that the Congress party would approach the court on the issue. (INN)
