Congress plan to ‘gherao’ Parliament illogical: Naidu

New Delhi : Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu on Monday said he is simply flummoxed by the Congress party’s move to “gherao” (encircle) Parliament over the AgustaWestland helicopter scam issue, describing it as an illogical step.
“I am not able to understand the logic behind the Congress plan of Gheraoing Parliament. Gherao is done by some people who are outside. Congress is very much inside here in the house, they are very much in the parliament for more than 50 years. They should be ready for debate and discussions,” Naidu told the media outside Parliament.

“We are ready to place all facts before the house. Defence Minister already made statement for same. The government also wants that the full fact should known to the people,” he added.

Cornered in the ongoing second half of the budget session over allegations of corruption, the Congress will organise a protest march to symbolically ‘gherao’ the Parliament today.

The TMC had earlier gave a notice in the Rajya Sabha for suspension of all business to pave way for immediate discussion on the alleged AgustaWestland chopper scam.

Earlier, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had questioned the silence of the TMC and the CPI (M) over the VVIP chopper deal.

Meanwhile, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar has said he will place all facts along with the detailed chronology about the controversial chopper deal before Parliament on May 4. (ANI)
