Congress protest against victimization of farmers in the name of irrigation projects: Jai Prakash Reddy

Hyderabad: TRS Govt. is making an attempt to take away the valuable lands of the farmers in the name of irrigation projects. KCR had made a promise that after TRS resumes power, all the problems of the farmers would be resolved but after coming to power, TRS forgot this promise. On the other hand, TRS Govt. is snatching the lands of poor farmers. The Govt. has no power to dislodge the farmers.

These thoughts were expressed by former Congress MLA, Mr. T. Jai Prakash Reddy in a press conference held yesterday at Sanga Reddy. He assured the farmers that Congress is with them. He demanded the Govt. to withdraw GO no. 123. He also demanded the Govt. to pay three times more than the present value of the lands of the farmers. He clarified that Congress is not against the construction of Mallanna Sagar project or any other project but it wants to present the issues of the farmers before the public.

He mentioned that in Mallanna Sagar, 16 villages are being submerged and 26000 acres of land is being taken away. He informed that Congress is always ready to support the farmers.

He told that a massive dharna program will be organized today at 11 a.m. at National Highway number 65 and “rasto roko” program is also the part of the protest. In the protest, former Dy. CM, Mr. Damodar Raja Narsimha, former Minister and District Congress President, Ms. Sunitha Laxma Reddy, former Minister and MLA of Zaheerabad, Dr. J. Geetha Reddy and other Congress party leaders and workers will participate.

He said that the people of Telangana voted TRS with high hopes but the Govt. has failed to measure up to their expectations. Present on this occasion were P. Anand Kishan, Chairman Sanga Reddy Library, Mr. Shankar Reddy, President of Block Congress, Mr. Mehraj Hashmi, Mr. Amer Baig, Mr. Gulam Mohiuddin, Mr. Mohammed Qutubuddin, Mr. Mohammed Zaheer and others.
