Constant criticism leaves under-fire Van Gaal upset

Johannesburg : Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has expressed his disappointment over repeated criticism made against him due to his side’s inconsistent performance this season.

United have advanced to the semi-finals of the FA Cup following their victory against West Ham, but are still struggling to secure a top-four Premier League finish.

This has put Van Gaal’s job under scrutiny, with former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho still being linked to take over at the Old Trafford.

The Dutchman, whose contract with United runs until the summer of 2017, argued that he had already received more criticism than the managers of the rival teams, Sport24 reported.

Admitting consistency was a key factor for claiming title, Van Gaal insisted that repeated injuries of his players had restricted his side to turn into a consistent team.

However, Van Gaal believes that his side could still secure a good position in the league and hold a chance to achieve the FA Cup glory.

United, which are still trailing by four points from fourth-places Manchester City, will next lock horns with Aston Villa on Saturday. (ANI)
