Court orders registration of case against Farooq Abdullah

A has ordered the police to register a case against former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah for his remark that the army cannot defend the people against militants.

Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) of Sitamarhi Ram Bihari gave directions to Dumra police station of the district yesterday to register a case against Farooq Abdullah.

The order came while hearing a writ filed by an advocate Thakur Chandra Singh in the CJM court on November 30.

The CJM ordered the police to register a case against the former J&K CM under sections 124(A) and 131.

Section 124(A) of the IPC relates to sedition and section 131 relates to abetting mutiny, or attempting to seduce a soldier, sailor or airman from his duty.

The complainant had described as “humiliating” Farooq Abdullah’s recent remark in Jammu that “How much can the Army defend us? Even if the entire Army of came to our rescue, they cannot defend us against terrorists or militants. The only way left is to hold dialogue and find a solution.
