CPI asks TDP to snap ties with BJP & fight for special status to AP

Hyderabad: CPI national secretary Dr K Narayana has demanded that the TDP take a political decision on continuance of its alliance with the BJP and wage a war to get a special status to Andhra Pradesh State. He also demanded that the TDP Ministers in the Union Cabinet and Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu tender resignations to protest against the Centre’s opposition on granting special status to Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking to the media at Makdhoom Bhavan here on Saturday along with CPI Andhra Pradesh State secretary Ramakrishna, Narayana alleged that the BJP government ran away afraid of Congress MP Dr KVP Ramachander Rao’s Private Bill on special status. “The BJP-led NDA government failed to answer the Private Bill”, he said, adding that M Venkaiah Naidu was speaking lies.

Reminding Venkaiah Naidu’s speech in Rajya Sabha during introduction of AP Re-organisation Bill, Narayana sarcastically said the CPI didn’t morph Naidu’s speech. He also reminded about Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s word that he would achieve 15-year special status to Andhra Pradesh State. Reminding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech at Visakhapatnam on special status, Narayana alleged that three leaders — Venkaiah, Chandrababu and Modi — were behaving like “three monkeys” on special status.

Stating that special status to Andhra Pradesh was a ‘political right’ but not ‘begging’, Narayana alleged that Venkaiah Naidu was speaking lies Andhra Pradesh people were demanding special status to the State as a right but not ‘begging’. Welcoming the Supreme Court direction to THE Union government on NREGS, Narayana predicted the BJP will face embarrassment in the elections going to be held in five States. He said the BJP will face bitter experience in 2019 elections due to its policies.

Responding on BJP Andhra Pradesh State in-charge Siddhartha Singh’s statement that the Centre has given Rs 1.75 lakh crore to the State, Narayana said Singh was not giving the same from his pocket and demanded that the BJP leader to accord special status to Andhra Pradesh State. Questioning the BJP to tell as to what they gave to the State, Ramakrishna demanded that the BJP release a white paper on it. He said they will fight against the Centre by floating ‘Prathyeka Hodha Sadhana Samithi’ without any political affiliation till achieving special status to Andhra Pradesh State. He said they will wait till May 17, on the day Chandrababu was meeting Modi on special status issue, and will wage a war from May 22 after the State party executive meeting on the same day. (NSS)
