CPI Condemns CBI Raid on NDTV Offices

The Central Secretariat of the Communist Party of India (CPI) condemned the raid by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on June 5, on the residence of co- founder of New Delhi Television (NDTV) PR annoy Roy and other premises linked to the organization.

In a press note today, the Party expressed its deep concern over the raids conducted by the CBI n the offices of NDTV and its promoters. ‘We feel that the entry of police and other agencies into the media offices is a serious matter. The raid on NDTV is part and parcel of Modi government’s plan to curb freedom of expression. We strongly object to government’s attempts to muzzle the media and demand that there is no interference in the free functioning of news operations. (NSS)
