CPI national General Secretary Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy today condemned the move of the Government of India, to disinvest and sell away the “AIR INDIA” on the name of losses. In a press note, the CPI leader took serious exception to the Centre’s idea to divest the state owned Air India. Stating that Air India is one of the jewels of public sector in the country, he said that it is incurring losses due to inefficiency of administration and sabotage leading to unfair completion with private sector. “If there is will there will be a way” he said adding that the government is honestly interested to save Air India, there are possibilities. The NDA government is hell bent on destroying the public sector, without making any serious efforts to set right the things, in loss making public sector enterprises and industries he fumed.
He further demanded that the Centre should appoint an expert committee to advice Air Indiato come out of losses, withdraw the decision of disinvestment and stop privatisation. CPI appeals to trade unions, democratic section of people, to resist the privatisation of Air India, by the Modi government. (NSS)
