CPI demands more hike in pay scales of Central staff

The Central secretariat of the Communist Party of India (CPI) has demanded that the Centre upgrade the pay scales of Central government employees and urged the latter to have detailed discussions with the trade unions before implementing the present decision of the Cabinet announced this week.

In a statement here on Friday, CPI expressed its serious concern over the “callousness” of the Narendra Modi government in implementing proper hike in the emoluments of Central government employees. The present hike of 14.3 per cent is the lowest compared to all the earlier pay revisions, it added. The party also felt that the minimum wage of Rs 18,000 was much lower than Rs 26,000 demanded by the employees. The difference between the highest and lowest wage has become much wider, it pointed out. (NSS)
