CPI to file plaint on defection, flays TRS

CPI State Secretary Chada Venkat Reddy today said that a complaint will be filed with the Election Commission against their MLA Ravindra Kumar, who defected to the ruling party in violation of democratic norms.

“We will urge the EC to immediately disqualify Ravindra Kumar and take action against the TRS Government for luring their lone MLA from Devarakonda’.

Addressing mediapersons at Makhdoom Bhavan here on Monday, the former MLA accused the TRS Government of indulging in wholesale political ‘prostitution’ by encouraging defections in a big way.  He also criticized Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for ‘purchasing’ MLAs from various political parties and trying to create a political vacuum in the State.

“The ruling party was not supposed to encourage defections against Constitution”, he said. Welcoming Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu’s comment of disqualifying the candidates for changing parties, he sought an amendment to the Act in Parliament. He also took exception to the State government for targeting the Opposition on the Mallannasagar project. (NSS)
