CPI former MLA Narayana Rao passes away

Senior leader of Communist Party of India (CPI) and former legislator Ujjini Narayana Rao died after a prolonged illness at a corporate hospital here early today.

He was 90 and survived by his wife, three sons and two daughters.

He was a member of the undivided Andhra Pradesh assembly from Munugodu Assembly constituency in Nalgonda district for three terms.

He was first elected to the Andhra Pradesh assembly in 1985 from Munugode constituency after he was defeated by Congress candidate Govardhan Reddy Palvai in 1972. He was re-elected from the same constituency in 1989 and 1994. (NSS)
