CPI men burn State, Central govts in effigy for depriving poor of festival ration quota

In protest against the State government’s failure to give additional ration quota to the poor and middle class sections and its miserable failure to curb spiraling prices, the CPI activists, led by Greater Hyderabad party secretary E T Narsimha, burned effigies of the State and Central governments at the Himayatnagar Y junction on Wednesday morning.

Speaking on the occasion, State party executive member V S Bose said the poor and middle class sections in the State were facing hardship due to the government’s failure to give additional ration quota of essential commodities for Dasara festival like in the past. It is atrocious on the part of the KCR government, which was making tall claims, for depriving the poor and middle class families of additional ration quota for the biggest festival like the previous governments, he said, adding that the people were not able to purchase pulses, especially Tur Dal as its price touched Rs 200 per kg.

Stating that prices of all the essential commodities like Tur Dal, tamarind, onion and even common salt were skyrocketing and leaving the common man depressed, Greater Hyderabad party secretary E T Narsimha lashed out at the State and Union governments for their miserable failure to contain prices of essentials. He demanded that the these governments rise to the occasion and provide essential commodities to the common man immediately. He also warned that in the event of these governments failing to curb spiraling prices, the CPI would organize raids on the government and Civil Supplies godowns and distribute the commodities to the common people.
